Have you ever read an anecdote more appropriate for today than this?
This one is a little different… … Two Different Versions…. ………. …. Two Different Morals

——————————————————————————–

OLD VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away..

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

——————————————————————————–

MODERN VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green…’

ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group singing, ?We shall overcome.? Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czarand given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2010.

If you believe that, I’ve got an e-mail that says the President was born in Kenya for ya.

Oh, wait….nevermind.

The Modern Version sucks.

I like the old one better. It makes more sense and is more in touch with reality.

LOL
Thank you, I love it.

Its so typical that Republicans can make a case for the world ending because an insect dies.

Happy Fox watching!

Exactly, look before you vote, as I pointed out PRIOR to the elections http://www.theobamafile.com/

DING DING DING DING!!!!

BINGO!!!!!!!! WE HAVE A BINGOOOOOOO!!!!!!

You hit the nail square on the head. Perfect bull’s eye!

Now for the REST OF THE STORY:

All the children watching the story say "Stupid ant!!!! I want to be the grasshopper. The grasshopper RULEZZZZ!!!"

Yes, this is EXACTLY what they have tried for generations to achieve.

The dumbing down of America has achieved its objective.

The public school system is a "useful idiot" factory, churning out ignorant and gullible future criminals who will eagerly jump on the communism bandwagon as soon as it rolls into town.

I know, I used to work as a public high school teacher. It made me sick to watch kids getting churned through the communist indoctrination mill all day long.

And how well it worked.

AMEN to that one!
Vickilynn | Jan 04, 2010

WOW!!!
Excellent contrast. Too bad there weren’t enough ants to vote against the grasshopper government. Now the ants must suffer for the foolishness of the lazy and misguided grasshoppers.

This sadly but very truly depicts the American way of life, under the ass sucking, appeasing
liberal wonder of the world. This marxist is leading us directly to this anecdote you have
shared, Time to wake up America, Or you will have nothing left to share or have taken
away from you.

Obama must go, in 2012, And the Grasshoppers friends must be voted out of office
come Nov this year,.

Thank you for offering this true picture of reality.

Collateral (2004)

IMDB rating: 7.70

Plot: Max has lived a mundane life as a cab driver for twelve years. The faces have come and gone from his rear-view mirror: people and places he’s long since forgotten—until tonight. Vincent is a contract killer. When an off-shore narco-trafficking cartel learns that they’re about to be indicted by a federal grand jury, they mount an operation to identify and kill the key witness, and the last stage is tonight. It is on this very night that Vincent has arrived—and five bodies are supposed to fall. Circumstances cause Vincent to hijack Max’ taxicab, and Max becomes collateral—an expendable person who’s in the wrong place at the wrong time. Through the night, Vincent forces Max to drive him to each assigned destination. And as the L.A.P.D. and F.B.I. race to intercept them, Max and Vincent’s survival become dependent on each other, in ways neither would have imagined.
