what are my chances of getting into one of these colleges?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — pedrobishop1987 @ 8:39 pm

Michigan State University
Northwestern U
Or University of Chicago.
I live in Chicago so i want to be close to home. I already applied to these colleges and i want to know if i have a chance at getting admitted into at least one of these colleges.
Im in my senior year, and up to my junior year, i had a 2.9 gpa. I scored a 22 on the ACT and i particpated in sports and many other extracurricular activities such as volunteering at my local hospital. Im retaking the ACT and the SAT this winter. SO…..Do i have a chance in at least one of these colleges????

Your score and grades are way too low for Chicago and Northwestern to be even "reaches" at all, and MSU will be a big "reach" for you.

Consider the U of Kansas, the U of Nebraska, or an easier college in Illinois. (I do not know Illinois colleges well, so I cannot suggest any.)

Uhh, you’re chances at Northwestern and UChicago don’t look to good. MSU you have a better chance at. I’m honestly not trying to be rude, but how did you expect to have a 2.9 GPA and get into some of the top universities in the US?
2012(: | Oct 29, 2009

There’s always a chance, but I’d say your chances are probably incredibly slim–unless you have a good explanation for those grades and test scores (like you had to take care of younger siblings, no time for studying, etc), you will get rejected.

Favourite Rise Against Song Lyrics?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — pedrobishop1987 @ 10:55 am

Heres mine:

Blood Red, White & Blue

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so come test me, so come break me,
so come on intoxicate me with hands tied behind my back,
I fight and wait for you to strike
a new problem we can’t stop them,
we’re outnumbered and uncautioned,
a rally cry rings out into the night
so pride yourself on what you are,
and hold them all to words they can’t take back,
I’ve seen a place (it comes) to me in dreams where fires die
but light still shines for us to see
what did you have to say?
give me your logic, your definition,
the words you twist to justify your position of mass starvation
and blind airstrikes,
every problem is solved with a fight
peace won’t be found, til we’re underground,
as long as we live without a sound
so pride yourself on what you are,
and hold them all to words they can’t take back,
I’ve seen a place (it comes) to me in dreams where fires die
but light still shines for us to see
would God bless a murder of the innocents?
would God bless a war based on pride?
would God bless a money-hungry government? no.
would God bless our ineffective court system?
God bless the sweatshops we run.
God bless America.
God bless America.
The reason i love this song, the band is a combonation of Tim’s Vocals, and the political content and amazing lyrics in every song.
I don’t know many other people who like Rise Against, nice to find another fan on here. My favorite:
"From Heads Unworthy"
We are the children you reject and disregard
These aching cries come from the bottom of our hearts
You cant disown us now, we are your own flesh and blood
We dont disappear just because your eyes are shut, now tell me
Love
Loss
Like a bullets path
Tear
Through
The cavity of my chest
Lights
Out
Because the fuse has blown
As your castles crumble slowly
We watch them fall
The crown slips from heads unworthy
As we take control
This is the family that we crossed or never had
This is a war that was lost the day that it began
Because its the race we run, but it keeps us at the start
Its the song I sung from the bottom of heart, thats how we
Read
You
Like a polygraph
Not
One
Single bone in your back
Own
Up
To how you let us down
As your castles crumble slowly
We watch them fall
The crown slips from heads unworthy
As we take control
Except for you and me, love
Everyone is the same, we know
But if too live, we have to be numb
Id rather know the pain, Id rather know
This happens almost never
But it happened once to me
And this will never be same
The ends we seam together
Im not after fame and fortune
Im after you
When Ive served my time I swear I will come for you
As your castles crumble slowly
We watch them fall
The crown slips from heads unworthy
Right on to ours, but Im after you
Hagel and Halloween - The Washington Note
Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — pedrobishop1987 @ 10:10 am
Senator Chuck Hagel has a great sense of humor, and he loves Halloween.
Two years ago, just before Halloween, Hagel showed up at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing chaired by then Committee Chairman Joe Biden in a “Joe Biden mask” urging those there to vote for him.
According to senior Hagel senate staff alumni, Hagel used to wear a chicken costume at Halloween years ago — and once dressed up as Colin Powell in a meeting to go see General Powell when he was serving as Secretary of State. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage had to personally intervene to get Hagel into the building.
Hagel also wore a John McCain mask at a McCain event — and did this with Senator Pat Roberts too.
So, I returned the favor last night — appearing in a Joe Biden mask to introduce Senator Hagel to offer some levity in what was a very important dinner focused on Israel-Palestine issues at J Street’s big gala event.
Taylor Marsh loved it . So did Zbignew Brzezinski and House International Relations Committee Chairman Howard Berman — at least that’s what they said.
Steve,
Your performance saved a dinner that would otherwise have just been lofty commentary that never got real. You set the perfect tone regarding Hagel and the importance of reaching across the political aisle, and the 1st Rabbi just went on forever.
We needed levity…and you gave it!! My table adored the Joe Biden mask and the stories about Hagel wearing a Colin Powell mask to meet Colin Powell.
THANK YOU. You were terrific. I don’t know what grumpy folks that other reporter was sitting with!
How "Homemade" is the food for real @ Boston market?
Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — pedrobishop1987 @ 3:51 am
I love it mind you but I wonder if there are any "horror stories" like the dude finding the RAT in a Harts Chicken buffet. I wouldn’t eat there anyway.
I am aware the food is probably frozen or refridgerated packs or something but their meat HAS to be fresh. Hmmm?
I DO LOVE BOSTON MARKET!!!
boston market is the only fast food type food i eat. i think to myseld it’s not really fast food, lol.
i don’t want to know if theres anything wrong with boston market, their food is great!
Bjorn | Dec 11, 2007
Never heard a similar rat story at Boston Market, which I think is a bit of an urban legend. It was pinned on KFC in the 70s or 80s, and has moved to various other chicken places over the past few decades. Always involving someone eating the chicken in the car and saying it taste good but strange, look down and ahhhhh!. Anyway, I think Boston Chicken is pretty good, safe and clean. They’re owned by mcdonalds, which knows a bit or two about fast food hygene.
Cooked in your kitchen? i don’t think so! and cook mass market style "YES" so you answer the question?
It’s just convenient and easy no mess at home! so buy it up…. ‘don’t know how to cook!??"
lingo bingo | Dec 11, 2007
Boston Market is one of my favorites because the food tastes homemade. I especially like their meatloaf.
jcf6865 | Dec 11, 2007
I too always loved Boston Market!
I used to eat the sandwiches and the meatloaf dinners.
I always liked the cornbread as well.
Lisa B | Dec 11, 2007
it’s pretty darn close !
any closer and you’d be home !!
luke m | Dec 11, 2007
Boston Market’s food is pretty close to being homemade. The chicken, along with the macaroni and cheese tastes downright delicious.
But the only thing I don’t like about Boston Market, is that it is also downright expensive–but that’s the only downside.
Is The Movie Romeo Must Die Suitable For A 14 Year Old?
Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — pedrobishop1987 @ 4:10 am
The One With Jet Li Does The Movie Have Sexual Refrences Or Nudity? I Dont Care About The Violence
Yes.
On another note, violence is okay but sexual references are a big no-no for a 14 year old? You might as well let him/her see the Saw movies. There isn’t any nudity or sex so they should be just fine.
Your kid has probably seen his/her fair share of "sexual references" and nudity by this time.
Ted Kord | May 16, 2009
im 13 and i watched that movie like when it first came out i loved it so i think it is ther isnt really anything wrong with it
!CeeCee! | May 16, 2009
I’m 24 and I think it is. There are some parts wherein there’s too much violence but most parts of the movie is okay.
Lucky Star | May 16, 2009
